Description

External cleaner - a cutter designed for rounding off metal, wooden elements, etc. The body is metal, conical funnel with a hexagonal shaft for mounting on a drill.

  • Total height: 49 mm.
  • Inner diameter: bottom 19 mm, top 3 mm.
  • Depth: approximately 12 mm.
  • Three steel cutting blades approximately 1.5 mm wide, made of YG8 carbide.
  • Suitable for: stainless steel, hardened steel, copper, brass, aluminum, fiberglass, wood, and plastic.
  • Important application: smoothing the edges of threads on bolts or rods.

The speed of the drill should be adjusted according to the material being processed.

The main application is rounding off the threaded edges on screws or rods, removing burrs from the outer edges of pipes, spikes, or pins. Insert the hexagonal pin into the drill chuck and slide the workpiece over the work item. During rotation, the inserts placed inside will cut the material and smooth its surfaces.

  • I've used it a little so far.

Initially, it's good that it has a large cutting range, from about 3 to 19mm according to the description.

To smooth a 12mm rod, I had to put it in the vise and apply pressure with both hands on the drill. So it's not sharp enough to cut very easily. Holding the rod with one hand and the drill with the other is not possible, as a lot of force is required.

On a 6mm rod, however, it worked very quickly.

The fact that the cutting edges are not so sharp may indicate that they will last longer. In the description it says steel, but further down it says carbide, which is not the same thing. I don't know which is true, but I hope it's carbide so they don't wear out quickly. And if it really is carbide, which is a brittle material, then it's good that they're not super sharp because they would break by the second use.

In conclusion, the tool is fine and does its job, you just need to have the rod secured and apply pressure for larger diameters. If it lasts a long time before wearing out, I'll consider the purchase very good
