The aim of this book is to ascertain intersections, transformations, and re-creations of the myth of Pasiphae in 20th-century modern Greek literary texts and to propose interpretations that prioritize combinations of theoretical proposals with ideological/cultural contexts.
Thus, integrated into the broad and generous field of reception studies, the work is called to study the ways in which authors reshape the myth of the Minoan queen in order to incorporate it into their own universe, which, as is often the case, evolves and is constructed according to the intellectual trajectory of the creators combined with the potent imperatives of the times.
Because the course of Pasiphae's life proves to be long and resilient over time, the title of the book captures this very conception of the mythical figure in duration but also in constant motion that opposes stagnation and inertia, prioritizing on one hand elasticity and on the other hand the necessity of this very pending state both at the level of writing and at the level of reading.
