The green sea turtle eggs are buried in clusters of 75-200 eggs. After two months, the hatchlings make a frenzied rush for the water, where they will spend the rest of their lives. Green sea turtles do not mature for 10 years or more, but can live up to 100 years.
Scientific Name: Chelonia mydas
Features: Green sea turtles get their name not from their shell, but from the subcutaneous fat in their bodies. Unlike many other turtles, they cannot retract into their shells.
Size and Color: Although these figures are dark green, sea turtles can also be brown, gray, or olive.
