Life under capitalism: An unrestrained exhausting denial for the many alongside the loathsome wealth of the few. Material deprivation, exclusion, and devaluation. Dignity trampled.
Michael Albert's book Without Bosses advocates for the conception and subsequent organization of a new economy. The proposed vision is called participatory economics. It is based on self-management, equality, solidarity, diversity, and sustainability.
It is an exercise in rejecting elitism and arrogance, authoritarianism and competition, homogenization. Without Bosses suggests naturally productive Commons, self-management by all who work, income based on the time and intensity of work in positions of social value that provide all economic actors with comparable means and the willingness to participate in the decisions that affect them.
Additionally, it proposes a process of participatory planning in which care and solidarity are the currency of collective and individual success.
