The provocative philosopher returns to explore today’s ideological, political, and economic battles, posing the question of whether radical change is possible. In these difficult times, even the most pessimistic diagnosis of our future ends with an optimistic vote that things may not be so bad, that there is light in the present moment. However, Slavoj Žižek argues, it is only when we admit that our situation is absolutely hopeless – that the light at the end of the tunnel is actually the light of a train approaching from the opposite direction – that fundamental change can be achieved.
