Andowl charging controller, suitable for installations up to 40A at 12V.
This is a PWM type. PWM charge controllers simply connect the solar panel to the battery (12/24/48V), acting as simple switches. When the switch closes, the voltage of the panel equalizes with that of the battery.
The result is that the voltage of the array that the PWM controller can accept depends on the battery voltage and is low, typically one to two panels of 100/200Wp in series, with a correspondingly low charging current compared to the capabilities of an MPPT charge controller.
PWM charge controllers are ideal for smaller systems where system efficiency is not such an important factor and for solar panels with a maximum power voltage (Vmp) of up to 18V for charging a 12V battery.
