This model from SkyWatcher is characterized by the same superior quality mirrors of the advanced Black Diamond reflector tubes but additionally features a 2’’ (2-inch) Crayford-Dual Speed Focuser. Thus, the movement is done by friction (and not by rack and pinion), as is the focuser of many telescopes on the market. The optical focus is achieved with exceptional precision, thanks to the dual focusing screw with an 11:1 ratio.

Observing the moon, planets, and a plethora of deep sky objects becomes an enjoyable experience with this reflector tube. The fast focal ratio (f/5) makes it suitable for photographing all faint objects. In fact, in this model, the length of the optical tube has been slightly shortened to improve performance during prime focus photography. The whole system performs better, both in astrophotography and optical observation, with the addition of SkyWatcher's new, optional coma corrector.

The EQ3-2 mount is a fairly good and convenient equatorial mount that you can upgrade to motorized (with the addition of a motor for astrophotography) or robotic Go To, depending on your growing interest in the sky. The EQ3-2 has received good reviews from experienced sky observers. It is a sturdy mount that provides accuracy and stability. The mount is based on a large tripod with adjustable height aluminum legs (71-123 cm), and the stability is also enhanced by the accessory tray.

It features a leveling bubble, micrometric movement screws for corrective movements in locating celestial objects, metal Right Ascension and Declination scales, and a crown-worm gear that allows the telescope to rotate fully in declination. The EQ3-2 optionally accepts a polar scope for locating True North during the polar alignment process.
