Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) rose from humble beginnings to become a leading spiritual and philosophical thinker. His works continue to influence thousands of people worldwide, with personalities such as Joseph Campbell, Alan Watts, Eckhart Tolle, and Deepak Chopra owing him much. However, he belonged to no religion, cult, or country. Nor did he endorse any school of political or ideological thought. Instead, Krishnamurti argued that these are the factors that divide people and bring conflict and war – an approach that makes his teachings particularly appealing in today's world.
The "Flight of the Eagle" is considered one of Krishnamurti's central works, as it deals with themes such as freedom, change, peace, violence, and – ultimately – the transcendent and the unknown.
