From the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists who exposed the scandal of sexual harassment and abuse by Harvey Weinstein for The New York Times, Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, comes the gripping untold story of their investigation and its consequences for the #MeToo movement.

On October 5, 2017, The New York Times published an article by Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey—and the world changed. For months, Kantor and Twohey conducted confidential discussions with top actresses, former Weinstein employees, and other sources, learning about troubling allegations that had been buried for far too long, some of which had been concealed with onerous legal settlements.

The journalists painstakingly unraveled a web of secret payments and confidentiality agreements that had entwined for decades, pressuring some of the most famous women in the world—and some unknowns—to risk a public accusation, and faced down Weinstein, his cadre of expensive lawyers, and even his private investigators.

But nothing could have prepared them for what followed the publication of their article on the Weinstein case. Within a matter of days, a Pandora's box of accusations of sexual harassment and abuse opened, and women who had suffered silently for generations began to speak out publicly, believing that the world would understand their stories.

In the following twelve months, hundreds of men from every social and professional class would be publicly accused of mistreating their colleagues. But were the changes sweeping enough—or had they not even progressed as much as they should have? These questions drove the two journalists into a new phase of their reporting and some of their most stunning discoveries.

With highly detailed analysis and investigative prowess, Kantor and Twohey take us for the first time straight to the heart of this social upheaval, with a vivid, almost minute-by-minute account of the struggle it took to bring the issue to light, along with an extensive profile of both the forces that obstructed and those that ignited the change.

They describe the remarkable journey of those who spoke out—for the sake of other women, for future generations, and for themselves—thus changing all of us.
