The power of the financial system derives from its position as a key component in the process of reproducing the power relations of the planetary system as it has been shaped in the current era.
That is to say, it constitutes the main pillar on which the reproduction of power of the Western system, led by the United States, is based, which undeniably remains the leader of this specific system.
The expansion of the global capitalist system to the east has caused significant growth in industrial production in these countries (industrial production in terms of the modern digital age, while simultaneously containing many elements that strongly remind one of the era of primitive accumulation in England in the 18th century).
The industrial development, which was supported by Western multinational corporations, caused a severe deindustrialization in many Western countries due to the transfer of these activities to the new developing countries.
The transfer of activities occurred either through Foreign Direct Investments or through outsourcing processes, or by other intermediate forms.
In Western states, high-tech activities, aerospace, and financial services developed.
The latter penetrate the entire global system, making it a captive by creating interdependence ties and immaterial networks that are very resilient and hard to substitute due to the existence of specific international institutions and multilateral organizations that are controlled by the West and have their bases in the West.
They represent the spearhead of the West in the field of geo-economics and geopolitics.
At the same time, they serve as the counterbalance to the emerging industrial eastern countries and currently play a decisive role in the daily flow of capital towards the financial poles of the West (led by the United States), providing it with the necessary capital for its ongoing reproduction.
This capability is, of course, primarily based on the role of the dollar as the primary reserve currency and, naturally, on the military superiority of the United States.
