"I thought I had made myself clear," he growled.
"Huh? What?"
I didn't understand. The guy was glaring at me as if I were the most hated character on a reality show, and I wanted to see what he looked like naked. I hadn't sunk this low since college.
I blamed it on my exhaustion and my emotional insecurity.
Behind the counter, Justice stopped what he was doing and waved both his hands. "Wait a minute," he started to say.
"It's okay, Justice," I assured him. "You keep making that coffee and I'll take care of the... gentleman." Chairs scraped forward.
"The thing with the twin sister," Grave warned him, pointing at us with the plastic spoon he was stirring his coffee with. "But first, this. I was on duty until now today and didn't take anything from its place." Damn. I ran my hand through my hair.
"If you didn't do it, do you have any idea who might have?" Naomi asked expectantly.
Great. I volunteered to help her and brought her all the way here, and grumpy Grave was the one who got the smile and the sweet talk.
