Finally, I found books that are enjoyable to read and, of course, to my liking. As a big fan of the TV series with the same name, I decided to get the book as a trial, and in the end, I couldn't put it down.
Disgusted by the vulgarity, arrogance, poor vocabulary, and disorienting writing style that I encountered in many books I had tried to read, even from well-known, award-winning authors, I ended up here and I am glad that the series has many books for me to read.
Lastly, something that I liked compared to an older book I had read is that in the first 2-3 pages, it has all the basic names of the story, so every time you wonder who this person is again, you can refer back to the beginning and understand.

Description & Specifications

“What I seek is the truth. Always the truth.”

At a Halloween party, a thirteen-year-old girl, Joyce, boasts that she witnessed a murder. And while no one believes her, she escapes. After hours, she is found: still in the house, drowned... in a bucket of apples.

That same night, Hercule Poirot is called to solve the case, but his mission is not simple, as no one can imagine the reason why the little storyteller was murdered.

What if Joyce was right? What if she really did see a murder with her own eyes? What if the murderer is... a double murderer?

Read an excerpt

"The Apple Tree was quite a spacious house, with several pleasant alcoves and corners. How selfish people are... thought Mrs. Oliver. No respect for one’s neighbor. This familiar cliché from the past flashed through her mind. She had heard it so many times from a governess, a servant, her grandmother, two aunts, her mother, and a couple of others more.

“Excuse me,” said Mrs. Oliver in a loud and clear voice.

The boy and the girl pressed even closer together, as if their lips were glued to each other.

“Excuse me,” Mrs. Oliver repeated. “Will it bother you if I pass? I want to open this door.”

The two children moved away reluctantly and looked at her with annoyance. Mrs. Oliver entered the room, then slammed the door behind her and drew the bolt.

The door did not fit well in its frame and the voices from outside reached Mrs. Oliver's ears faintly.

“Oh, come on,” came a boy’s rather shrill voice. “Can’t she see we don’t want anyone to bother us?”
