What is Benebone? Dogs love the taste and can chew for hours. That's why Benebone uses real flavors of chicken, bacon, fish, peanut butter, and maple. It is a very durable chew toy made from very strong nylon, designed to provide a comfortable grip and keep your dog entertained for hours. Benebone is a chew toy and is not edible. As any chew toy or bone wears down, it may consume some part of it, so it is good to keep an eye on your dog.
If your dog is an aggressive chewer, Benebone is made from nylon, which is a tough material. Aggressive chewing can cause chips or cracks in teeth and possibly lead to tooth loss. Not all dogs have the ability to withstand aggressive chewing of hard materials like nylon. Damage to the teeth is an inevitable risk when using chew toys of this hardness and durability.
Consider softer products if your dog is an aggressive chewer. However, don't forget the product line for puppies, which is slightly softer. Benebones are also not suitable for larger dogs that may have reduced tooth strength.
Which size should you choose? Each Benebone has a rough guideline for which size to choose. Benebones are not suitable for dogs weighing more than the recommended guidelines, or for very strong or very aggressive dogs. Always choose the largest product that your dog can handle.
Warning! All Benebone sizes are marked in pounds, not in kilograms. 1 pound is approximately equal to 0.5 kilograms. When should you replace your dog’s Benebone? Benebones are durable and designed to last longer than most chew toys. They should be replaced every month if wear indicates so. Generally, if rice-sized pieces or smaller fall off the Benebone, this is not a problem. However, if there is a risk of larger pieces possibly falling off, the bone should be discarded and replaced with a new one.
