The Porsche 928 was introduced in 1977, featuring a new body and a large rear hatch. It was equipped with a new aluminum V8 engine with electronic fuel injection, capable of delivering 235hp. Designed according to the "Transaxle" philosophy, it had a front engine and rear gearbox, and featured an independent suspension and a Weissach rear axle, optimized for reducing understeer. The S4 version was produced in 1986 and was characterized by a more powerful engine delivering 330hp. This model remained in production until 1995.
