The Mercedes-Benz 2238 is a German truck belonging to the so-called Mercedes-Benz SK series (Ger. Schwere Klasse). The vehicles of this series were first presented to the public in 1989, and their serial production began that year and lasted until 1998.

The SK series (including the 2238 model) was developed and put into production to expand the commercial offering of the Mercedes-Benz company, but primarily to replace the NG series (German Neue Generation) cars in the market, which had been produced since 1973.

Compared to the NG series, the SK series has many similarities but also some significant differences. First of all, the driver's cabin has changed, becoming slightly more aerodynamic. Many more electronic solutions have also been added to facilitate driving and diagnostics at a fuel station.
