Looking for full ATX motherboards socket 1700, the ones with good reviews on international sites were costing from €250 to €400. At some point, I looked for micro ATX so I wouldn't have to change the case and power supply, and I found this one for just over €100. Moreover, it supports 2 NVMe drives with PCIe4 speed, which is extremely important. It has many positive reviews on international sites.
So, the company offers a cheaper product but with some limitations, like most micro ATX motherboards. However, it is a good solution with plenty of capabilities for its price. Once everything was set up, everything runs smoothly, the SSD and NVMe drives provide the expected speeds, as well as the CPU. I can't notice anything negative.
The "GIGABYTE Control Center" tool offered on the company's website is interesting as it detects all available updates, from which you can choose which ones to install. This tool also automatically upgrades the motherboard firmware: it downloads the firmware, restarts on its own, enters the BIOS automatically, upgrades it, and then restarts again. The user is saved from the hassle.
I gave the motherboard 5 stars despite encountering some memory incompatibility with the ones I had, as I wrongly took into account third-party websites that incorrectly stated that the memories were compatible, but the exact type of KINGSTON DDR4 2666 was not on Gigabyte's official compatibility list.
The memories worked perfectly on a previous motherboard. However, as soon as I installed them on this one, I experienced blue screens and crashes in Windows, not in a specific location, but in different locations each time, which often indicates a memory problem.
Indeed, Memtest86 immediately showed errors. Each dimm individually passed Memtest86 on the motherboard without errors, but when both were installed in the slots designated for dual channel operation, Memtest86 showed errors again. So, I had to install them in slots 1 and 2, as only then they didn't produce errors, but I lost the dual channel capability, which only works in alternating slots of the same color (2-4 or 1-3).
Therefore, we must pay attention to the official website to avoid troubles.
With the latest firmware, they probably recognize them as compatible now because it displays a message saying "your memories are not working in dual channel". However, I haven't yet tried changing their position.
Apart from that, the BIOS settings options seemed numerous and confusing at first, but once I read the instructions and searched for information, my questions were answered.
Also, initially, it didn't recognize one of the two NVMe drives, but when I upgraded the BIOS to the then-latest version (F4a, April 2023), it immediately detected it.
In general, it was somewhat difficult to assemble and adapt the hardware in a system with a micro ATX motherboard and a small case, but when you buy this motherboard, you are aware that it is smaller and cheaper, which entails difficulties in placement. In response to the question "Did you easily connect the hardware to the motherboard?" I marked yellow, precisely to let others know that everything is more difficult with the small dimensions of micro ATX.
Personally, I struggled a bit with the incompatible memories, but it was my mistake because I should have only paid attention to the company's official compatibility list.
Ψάχνοντας για full ATX μητρικές socket 1700, όσες είχαν καλές κριτικές σε διεθνή site, κόστιζαν από 250€ μέχρι 400€. Κάποια στιγμή κοίταξα για micro ATX για να μην αλλάξω κουτί και τροφοδοτικό και βλέπω αυτή με λίγο πάνω από 100€. Μάλιστα παίρνει επάνω και 2 δίσκους NVMe με ταχύτητα PCIe4 πράγμα εξαιρετικά σημαντικό. Σε site εξωτερικού έχει πάρα πολλές θετικές κριτικές.
Άρα, η εταιρεία βγάζει ένα προϊόν φθηνότερο αλλά με κάποιους περιορισμούς όπως οι περισσότερες micro ATX. Όμως, είναι μια καλή λύση με αρκετές δυνατότητες για τα λεφτά της. Από τη στιγμή που όλα ρυθμίστηκαν, τα πάντα τρέχουν κανονικά, οι δίσκοι SSD και NVMe δίνουν τις αναμενόμενες ταχύτητες, το ίδιο και η CPU. Δεν μπορώ να παρατηρήσω κάτι αρνητικό.
Ενδιαφέρον εργαλείο το "GIGABYTE Control Center" που προσφέρεται στην ιστοσελίδα της εταιρείας και ανιχνεύει όλα τα updates που υπάρχουν από τα οποία επιλέγεις ποια θέλεις να εγκαταστήσεις. Το εργαλείο αυτό κάνει και αυτόματη αναβάθμιση στο firmware της μητρικής: Κατεβάζει το firmware, κάνει μόνο του επανεκκίνηση, μπαίνει αυτόματα στο BIOS, το αναβαθμίζει και μετά κάνει πάλι επανεκκίνηση. Γλυτώνει ο χρήστης την ταλαιπωρία.
Στη μητρική έβαλα 5 αστέρια παρά το γεγονός ότι συνάντησα μια μερική ασυμβατότητα στις μνήμες που είχα, καθώς έλαβα υπόψη (κακώς) ιστοσελίδες τρίτων που έλεγαν λανθασμένα ότι οι μνήμες ήταν συμβατές, όμως ο ακριβής τύπος της KINGSTON DDR4 2666 δεν υπήρχε στην επίσημη λίστα συμβατότητας της Gigabyte.
Οι μνήμες δούλευαν άψογα σε προηγούμενη μητρική. Μόλις όμως τις έβαλα σε αυτή, έβλεπα μπλε οθόνες και κολλήματα στα Windows, όχι όμως σε κάποιο συγκεκριμένο σημείο, αλλά σε διαφορετικά σημεία κάθε φορά, το οποίο συχνά σημαίνει πρόβλημα μνήμης.
Πράγματι, το Memtest86 έβγαλε errors σχεδόν αμέσως. Κάθε dimm ξεχωριστά επάνω στη μητρική πέρασε χωρίς σφάλμα το Memtest86, όταν όμως έμπαιναν και τα δύο στα slots που προβλέπονται για τη λειτουργία dual channel, το Memtest86 έβγαζε πάλι error. Έτσι, μπήκαν υποχρεωτικά στα slots 1 και 2 αφού μόνο έτσι δεν έβγαζαν σφάλμα, όμως χάθηκε η δυνατότητα dual channel που λειτουργεί μόνο σε εναλλάξ slots ιδίου χρώματος (2-4 ή 1-3).
Πρέπει λοιπόν να δίνουμε βάση στην επίσημη ιστοσελίδα για να γλιτώνουμε τις ταλαιπωρίες.
Με επιφύλαξη να πω ότι με το τελευταίο firmware μάλλον τις αναγνωρίζει ως συμβατές πλέον διότι βγάζει μήνυμα ότι "οι μνήμες σας δεν λειτουργούν σε dual channel". Όμως δεν κάθισα ακόμα να τους αλλάξω θέση.
Από εκεί και πέρα οι δυνατότητες ρυθμίσεων στο BIOS μου φάνηκαν πολλές και δυσνόητες αλλά από τη στιγμή που διάβασα τις οδηγίες και έψαξα πληροφορίες, οι απορίες μου λύθηκαν.
Επίσης, αρχικά δεν αναγνώριζε τον ένα από τους δύο δίσκους NVMe, όταν όμως αναβάθμισα το BIOS στην -τότε- τελευταία έκδοση (F4a, Απρίλιος του 2023), τον είδε αμέσως.
Γενικά ήταν κάπως δύσκολο να στηθεί και να προσαρμοστεί το hardware σε ένα σύστημα με micro ATX μητρική και σε μικρό case, αλλά αγοράζεις αυτή τη μητρική εν γνώση σου ότι είναι μικρότερη και φθηνότερη, πράγμα που συνεπάγεται δυσκολίες στην τοποθέτηση. Στο ερώτημα "Σύνδεσες εύκολα το hardware στη μητρική;" έβαλα κίτρινο, ακριβώς για να ξέρει ο άλλος ότι όλα είναι πιο δύσκολα με τις μικρές διαστάσεις των micro ATX.
Προσωπικά ταλαιπωρήθηκα κάπως με τις ασύμβατες μνήμες, αλλά ήταν δικό μου λάθος διότι έπρεπε να δώσω βάση μόνο στην επίσημη λίστα συμβατότητας της εταιρείας.
