DDR3

DDR3 is the third generation of RAM technology for computers. It replaces DDR2 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 800MT/s to 2133MT/s, latency (CAS Latency) from CL4 to CL19, while its capacity has increased up to 16GB per memory module.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger the size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for latency (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics must be compatible with the specifications of our motherboard.

The Kingston SO-DIMM DDR3 provides a speed of 1600MT/s, with CL11 and 8GB per memory module.

Compatibility

DDR3 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Indicatively, DDR3 is compatible with Intel 3rd & 4th Gen, Pentium, and Celeron processors, as well as AMD FX and Phenom II series processors.

However, be careful with this specific type of memory: it is available in two types, low and high voltage, i.e. 1.35V and 1.5V. Laptops usually do not mention these specifications, so before you buy, you will need to open the computer and check the memory that the manufacturer has installed to confirm the voltage. Unfortunately, even I made a mistake in my last purchase and now I have a set of 2X8GB brand new memories that I don't know what to do with.

However, be careful with this specific type of memory: it is available in two types, low and high voltage, i.e. 1.35V and 1.5V. Laptops usually do not mention these specifications, so before you buy, you will need to open the computer and check the memory that the manufacturer has installed to confirm the voltage. Unfortunately, even I made a mistake in my last purchase and now I have a set of 2X8GB brand new memories that I don't know what to do with.
