Description

The sexual revolution, civil rights, Flower Power, the mini skirt, women's liberation, The Pill, the Black Panthers, the hippies. All these words and phrases entered our language in the tumultuous 1960s. The decade began as a continuation of the domestic life of the 1950s and ended with global upheaval as the baby boomers came of age sexually. A playful time for men's magazines.

As Playboy's global dominance increased, France, Germany, England, and Italy produced "men's lifestyle" titles, while diversification expanded in the USA. The first major breast magazines made their appearance, as magazines like Fling, Gem, and The Swinger, as well as men's adventure titles—with nude photos—provided nostalgia for middle-aged veterans.

Italy eventually joined the game with sexy fumetto photo comics and a hero named Supersex. Latin America remained clinging to the old burlesque form, trapped in religious constraints and political turmoil. France maintained the beloved Folies de Paris et de Hollywood for the older audience and launched the sleek Playboy clone LUI for its sons. Meanwhile, England celebrated mini skirts, indulging in the fetishism of bloomers and corsets with Spick and Span editions. However, none surpassed Germany, where Ulrike Meinhof edited Konkret in 1969, a magazine of sexual and political revolution, before forming the Red Army Faction with Andreas Baader and entering the history of domestic terrorism.

Volume 3 includes over 650 subversive covers and photos from Argentina, England, France, Germany, Italy, and the USA, as well as text. Pages: 460, Year of Publication: 0622, Dimensions: 21.3x21.3cm.
