The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a very common virus that primarily causes infections of the lower respiratory system. It most commonly affects children up to the age of 2-3 years and can cause pneumonia, while it is the most significant cause of bronchiolitis in the first year of a baby's life.

Instructions for Use
Sample from nasal cavity
- Position the patient's head tilted back at a 70-degree angle
- After removing the sterile swab from its pouch, gently insert it into the patient's nasal cavity (approximately 2 centimeters) with a rotating motion
- Rotate the swab 5 times and then slowly remove it
- Using the same swab, repeat the procedure in the other nasal cavity
Nasopharyngeal swab sample
- Position the patient's head tilted back at approximately a 70-degree angle
- After removing the sterile swab from its pouch, insert the swab into the patient's nasal cavity
- When it reaches the posterior nasopharynx, rotate it 3-5 times and then gently remove it
Results Interpretation
- Positive: Two visible colored bands appear on the Test line and Control line. Indicates the presence of RSV virus antigen in the sample.
- Negative: One visible colored band appears on the Control line. Indicates that the concentration of RSV virus antigen is zero or below the detection limit of the test.
- Invalid: No colored band appears on the Control line regardless of whether it appears on the Test line or not.
