Description

Rapid antigen detection test for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in human nasal and nasopharyngeal samples.

What is Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)

The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a very common virus that primarily causes infections of the lower respiratory system. It most commonly affects children up to the age of 2-3 years and can cause pneumonia, while it is the most significant cause of bronchiolitis in the first year of a baby's life.

Advantages

  • Nasal or nasopharyngeal sample
  • High sensitivity and specificity
  • Same usage protocol as Rapid Tests for COVID-19
  • With pre-filled ready-to-use vials and thin sampling swab (sterilized by radiation and not chemicals)
  • No need for additional laboratory equipment
  • Method time: 15 minutes
  • CE quality certification
  • Made in Greece

Instructions for Use

Sample from nasal cavity

  • Position the patient's head tilted back at a 70-degree angle
  • After removing the sterile swab from its pouch, gently insert it into the patient's nasal cavity (approximately 2 centimeters) with a rotating motion
  • Rotate the swab 5 times and then slowly remove it
  • Using the same swab, repeat the procedure in the other nasal cavity

Nasopharyngeal swab sample

  • Position the patient's head tilted back at approximately a 70-degree angle
  • After removing the sterile swab from its pouch, insert the swab into the patient's nasal cavity
  • When it reaches the posterior nasopharynx, rotate it 3-5 times and then gently remove it

Results Interpretation

  • Positive: Two visible colored bands appear on the Test line and Control line. Indicates the presence of RSV virus antigen in the sample.
  • Negative: One visible colored band appears on the Control line. Indicates that the concentration of RSV virus antigen is zero or below the detection limit of the test.
  • Invalid: No colored band appears on the Control line regardless of whether it appears on the Test line or not.
