This is the component that is attached to the back of the speargun handle. Its purpose is to provide a soft, comfortable, and non-slip surface that rests against the diver's chest during the loading process.

This makes loading (the "stretching" of the rubber bands) much easier, more comfortable, and safer, as it absorbs pressure and prevents the gun from slipping.
