Axitol-n is a dietary supplement with alpha-lipoic acid, coenzyme Q10 (CavaQ10®) and MGCPQQ® (Pyrroloquinoline Quinone), Acetyl-L-Carnitine, Vitamin B12, and L-methyl-Folate. Alpha-lipoic acid in the enantiomeric R form (R – alpha lipoic acid) is a natural ingredient that is produced in the human body naturally, but in such small amounts that it is not sufficient for proper cellular function, making it necessary to obtain it exogenously from foods such as meat and vegetables in order to achieve the correct concentration in the body.
Its action is mainly antioxidant, either by acting directly against free radicals or indirectly by enhancing the concentration of other antioxidant molecules in the cells.
Its strong antioxidant action has also been associated in recent studies with insulin metabolism.
Coenzyme Q10 is a powerful antioxidant factor that protects cells either directly or indirectly from toxins and their by-products, free radicals. The Coenzyme Q10 in Axitol-n is contained in the CavaQ10® form, which allows greater bioavailability of CoQ10. In a bioavailability study, it was proven to be 18 times more bioavailable than CoQ10-MCC*.

The EFSA has approved the use of the ingredient Pyrroloquinoline quinone in dietary supplements that can be consumed by adults, excluding pregnant and breastfeeding women, at maximum levels of 20 mg/day, following a relevant request by the manufacturer of the raw material contained in Axitol-N, Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR) is the acetylated form of L-carnitine, a natural substance synthesized in the human body from the amino acids lysine and methionine. ALCAR is easily transported to tissues, including the nervous system, and participates in the transport of fatty acids to the mitochondria, where they are used for the production of cellular energy. In addition, it has been studied for its role in mitochondrial function, neuronal health, and protection of cells from oxidative stress.
Vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) is a water-soluble B-complex vitamin, essential for many physiological functions of the body. It participates in the normal formation of red blood cells, DNA synthesis, and the function of the nervous system. According to EFSA-approved health claims, vitamin B12 contributes to normal energy metabolism, normal functioning of the nervous system and psychological function, normal functioning of the immune system, as well as the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. It also contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism.
L-Methylfolate or 5-MTHF is the biologically active form of folic acid, which is used directly by the body without requiring enzymatic conversion. It participates in DNA and amino acid synthesis, as well as in normal homocysteine metabolism. According to EFSA-approved health claims, folic acid contributes to normal blood formation, normal functioning of the immune system, normal psychological function, and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.
In addition, 5-MTHF is the bioactive form of folic acid in the human body and has been studied as an alternative source of folic acid in individuals with reduced ability to convert it due to genetic polymorphisms, such as the MTHFR enzyme.
