Without a frame, the Atom features a rigid core inside that holds the two lenses, providing just the right rigidity to the mask. In this way, Cressi replaces the usual external plastic frame and allows us to reduce the internal volume of the mask. The construction material has been minimized as well as the internal volume, with the lenses in the shape of inverted tears being at a very short eye-to-lens distance.

Made from very soft, high-quality silicone, resulting in an incomparably gentle contact with the face and comfort, without leaving a mark even after prolonged use.

The thermally tempered glass is manufactured using special heated furnaces, which heat the annealed glass to a uniform temperature of approximately 700ºC. When the glass exits the furnace, it is rapidly cooled. This rapid cooling places the glass surface in a state of compression while the central core remains in tension.

This compression after thermal treatment gives the tempered glass unique properties such as:

• Mechanical strength 4-5 times greater than simple monolithic glass.
• Resistance to thermal shock up to 250°C, making it resistant to large thermal variations, partial shading, etc., without experiencing thermal shock.
• Fragmentation upon breakage. It meets safety specifications in case of breakage to protect users. This means that if tempered glass breaks, it shatters into small, relatively harmless pieces that are not large or sharp enough to cause serious injury.
