The subject of this work is the institution of evening general education schools in Greece. This study attempts to synthesize the historical and social evolution of the institution within the realms of primary and secondary education and to depict the current state in the field of Evening Gymnasium.

The exploration and documentation of the institution's continuous journey were conducted through a comprehensive view of the social spectrum, while the necessity and role of evening education, in each examined period, were investigated based on the contextual framework of social, economic, and educational conditions.

The diagnosis of the prevailing situation in the field of secondary general compulsory education was carried out by presenting the theoretical framework and conducting empirical research among the student community of the Evening Gymnasium.
