Donald W. Winnicott did not cease until the end of his life to seek, to revise, and to dare within a spirit of absolute respect and faith in humanity and its potential. As a member of the British Psychoanalytic Society, of which he served as president for two terms, he contributed significantly and discreetly to the formation and promotion of the "Independent" group.
