Graphic Novel - Four Color
George Best was to football what the Beatles were to pop music: the embodiment in the heart of the Swinging Sixties of a new social class. A rebellious youth, full of carefree joy and insolence. The same youth that, a few years later, at the end of the Glorious Thirty Years after the War, somewhere in the mid-1970s, would collide with the relentless reality of lost illusions, drugs, and alcohol.
Kris adapted the novel Le Cinquieme Beatles (the Fifth Beatle) by Vincent Duluc, one of the leading voices in French sports journalism, into a comic. Together with cartoonist Florent Calvez, he brought to “life” the idol of Manchester United and the "Holy Trinity" that Best served throughout his life: “Rascally” Football, Sex, and Rock&Roll.
The Greek translation was done by Giannis Andreou, and the afterword was written by journalist and radio producer Makis Diogos, a "notorious fan" of both George Best and his club Old Trafford.
