In 1924, P. Klee wrote a series of notes for a lecture at the opening of his exhibition in Jena, Germany. These notes later became a book, published under the title: On Modern Art, and became one of the most significant texts written by active artists of modernism.
Despite the fact that these notes have a fragmentary, often vague character, they continue to be very important and valuable material for any visual artist, art historian, and generally for anyone in the art world who would like to understand how an artist perceives the style and character of creation and artwork in general.
This work before you records my dialogue with this text. It is, in fact, an elaboration of the notes I took while reading Klee’s pages over the years. Notes that were later enriched by other notes concerning the composition in the "Byzantine" visual tradition, which in some way served as an indirect response to some of Klee's questions, coming from another world, that of the so-called "Byzantine" painting, which Klee, as well as the wider world of Western art, unfortunately, did not adequately know, neither as a form nor as a concept.
