The Nord Stage 4 Compact is the fourth generation of Nord’s stage keyboard series, designed for professional musicians seeking full functionality in a lightweight, portable design. It features a 73-key Semi Weighted Waterfall keyboard with Triple Sensors and Aftertouch support, offering a fast response suited to playing organ, synthesizer, and piano sounds. The instrument has independent sound engines for Piano, Organ, and Synth, supporting layering and splitting across up to 7 independent layers. It is equipped with physical drawbars with LED indicators, expanded sample memory for the Nord Piano and Sample Libraries, and a dedicated effects unit for each layer.

Semi-Weighted Waterfall Keyboard with Triple Sensor

The Nord Stage 4 Compact features a semi-weighted 73-key keyboard with rounded Waterfall-style edges, ideal for fast organ runs (glissandos) and synthesizer techniques. Three sensors (Triple Sensor) per key ensure accurate detection of key velocity and return position, providing dynamic control even when using acoustic piano sounds. Aftertouch support lets you add modulation and effects by applying pressure to the keys after the initial strike.

Piano Engine & Acoustic Performance Technologies

The piano section features a dual sound engine (2 Piano Layers) and comes with 2 GB of memory for the Nord Piano Library. It includes a wide selection of grand pianos, upright pianos, electric pianos, Clavinet and harpsichord. It incorporates Advanced String Resonance technology to reproduce the strings’ internal resonances, Dynamic Pedal Noise when used with a compatible pedal, as well as Unison and Dynamic Compression functions and 3 selectable touch curves.

Organ & Wave 2 Synth Engine

The Organ section is based on B3 Tonewheel, B3 Bass, Vox and Farfisa simulations, as well as two Pipe Organ models, and features physical drawbars with illuminated LED indicators. The Synth section is based on the Nord Wave 2 Synth Engine, with three independent layers (3 Synth Layers), supporting Virtual Analog synthesis, Sample Playback with 1 GB of memory, FM and Wavetable synthesis. It includes Low Pass, High Pass, Band Pass and Ladder filters, an Arpeggiator with Polyphonic Pattern mode, and ADR/ASR envelopes.

User Interface, Split/Layering & Standalone Effects Unit

The Stage 4 Compact’s user interface offers instant control without complex menus, with dedicated LED faders for each of the 7 available layers. It lets you create up to 7 Split zones with Split Point Crossfade for smooth transitions between zone boundaries. In addition, the effects section offers independent effects chains for each layer, including modulation effects (Tremolo, Chorus, Phaser, Flanger), a Pump effect, Delay with Tap Tempo, amp simulation, 3-band EQ, and Reverb with 6 algorithms (Spring, Booth, Room, Stage, Hall, Cathedral).
