The splitting axe is made of polished and lacquered iron. The heavier axe is better suited for larger logs, while the lighter axe is ideal for basic splitting of firewood. The axe head is curved and made of hickory.

The axes are handcrafted and may differ in appearance from those shown in the photographs. They are made from Swedish high-carbon steel using traditional methods that have been employed since 1697. The steel is welded multiple times for increased density and durability. The axe can be sharpened without reducing the edge's strength.
