The book records cases of corruption of unimaginable proportions, which after their disclosure should have ended up in criminal courts. The chances of this happening in Cyprus are negligible, because the institutions are under the complete control of the President and the power system is entirely corrupt.
The investigation of corruption cases involving individuals at the highest levels of power entails risks. Writing this book was a continuous personal adventure. My telephone and electronic communications, as well as my movements, are monitored, agents have been sent to my house and installed malicious software on my computer, and my texts are intercepted. This book records the entire history of the violation of my personal life.
The concept of the rule of law in Cyprus is non-existent. The tolerance of citizens and the absence of accountability have nurtured corruption and undermined the quality of democracy. The average citizen is addicted to silence. The popular... exhortation "hide to get through" adequately reflects the reality. The expectation is that this work will contribute to the development of social sensitivity in the opposite direction.
