Humans, as "higher rational beings," wish to maintain their independence throughout their lives. This is a demanding lifelong challenge, where everyone desires to control and understand everything they perceive with their senses as well as with their feelings.

Each individual, in order to successfully cope with this challenge, consciously or unconsciously, resorts to their exclusive privilege and tool, that of their thinking; thus, they try to utilize higher cognitive strategies, those of "critical thinking," to analyze, synthesize, discern, categorize, and evaluate everything that concerns them in order to interpret and create their own "world" with their subjective positions to leave their unique "imprint" on both their external and internal worlds.

In particular, the modern individual who receives a dense amount of information and messages daily due to the development of new information and communication technologies and the new "normality" where knowledge, parameters, and conditions change rapidly, feels a greater need for the development of critical thinking.

In the Western societies of the 21st century, where young individuals begin to become independent earlier than in the past from stable "data," educators are called upon and strive to help students develop critical thinking skills for the comprehensive development of their personalities.

In this endeavor, the book "HOW TO THINK ABOUT WHY" is aimed at teachers of the two upper grades of primary school and at language teachers of all grades of secondary school, and it seeks to enhance their efforts to contribute to the development of critical thinking skills in students aged 11 to 15 through the Language course at three levels: word – sentence - text.

Furthermore, because each person has different learning abilities, needs, inclinations, and interests, this book can be utilized by the aforementioned educators on an individual or group basis, as well as by educators in the lower grades of primary school or by the parents of students at home.

The challenge is great, but the habit of lifelong practice of critical thinking by the users of this book is the most significant satisfaction for its author.
