“It is not only Papadiamantis and Solomos who took root in their land and laid the foundation for the Mythologizing of Modern Hellenism. There are also political figures who stood loyal to our National Tradition. Within their work, we, the younger generations, owe it to ourselves to seek the Values that can give meaning to our lives.

There is some correspondence between Kapodistrias and Solomos. Both of these intellectual figures are governed by the same nobility and sensitivity of the Ionian Spirit. Just as the uprising of 21 was elevated by the poetry of Solomos, in the Consciousness of Kapodistrias, this event took its most politically mature form.

The demand of the moment was for Greece to become a State. (…) With the failure of Kapodistrias’ Enlightened Despotism, Greece, through the irresponsibility of the parties, the lack of moral principles, and the social relativism - irreconcilable expressions of Western liberalism - is being channeled into revolutionary action from the path of popular outrage.

And since then, under a storm of chaos and madness, the demand for the revolutionary rebirth of the new Hellenism has been gestating.” Dimitrios Tsakonas (1921-2004) was a sociologist. He served as a university professor at the University of Innsbruck, the Orthodox Institute of Paris, Panteion University, and the University of Bonn. His written work is rich and multifaceted.

His academic personality was overshadowed by his participation in the governments of the dictatorship as a “food specialist,” with Kapodistrian, communal, and Christian socialist ideas.
