The art of becoming a parent is the most difficult and the most important of the arts. We are not born parents, nor do we become parents by studying in schools... Our children make us parents, as do those who place us in a parental role. However, it is primarily our experiences that make us parents.
The paraphrase of the title from "lessons for parents" to "experiences of parents" is not coincidental. While information about the developmental trajectory of children is abundant and easily accessible, the experiential accounts of parents are always personal. From the moment a couple, or each member individually, envisions themselves with a daughter or a son by their side, the process of reviving their own childhood and adolescence begins.
This book records the experiences of parents who participated in four meetings with psychologists-psychotherapists who work with parents and families. They are unique and valuable "personal testimonies" for understanding the "experiences" and cover all developmental stages of children up to adolescence.
