Death is not pleasant... but at least you make a living. Miky7 is Disposable, a worker on a human mission aimed at colonizing the frozen planet Niflheim. Whenever an extremely dangerous mission arises, the crew turns to Miky. When a copy of him is killed, they immediately create a new one, which retains almost all the memories of the previous one.

After six deaths, Miky7 finally understands the terms of his contract. And then, during a routine exploratory mission, Miky7 goes missing and is presumed dead. When he finally manages to return to the colony base, his fate has been sealed: the new clone, Miky8, has already been created and is ready to take on the duties of the Disposable.

The existence of multiple copies is a globally abhorrent idea, and if their existence is discovered, they are sent to the recycler to be turned into protein. Therefore, Miky7 must keep the existence of his copy hidden from the rest of the colony.

Meanwhile, the living conditions on Niflheim are worsening increasingly. The planet's atmosphere is not suitable for humans, food is scarce, and the native beings are starting to show curiosity about their new neighbors, which frightens the commander of the colony. Ultimately, the survival of all – colonists and natives – ends up depending on Miky7.
