The Anduril sword, also known as Narsil, is one of the most famous swords in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. At the end of the second age of Middle-earth, the blade of Narsil was destroyed during the last alliance of Elves and Men in the great battle against Sauron. The legendary shards of Narsil were kept in Rivendell, the home of Elrond.
In the New Line Cinema film, The Return of the King, Anduril was reforged from the shards of Narsil for Aragorn by the elven smiths in Rivendell. The sword bears an inscription in Tolkien's Quenya language, which translates to: "I am Anduril, who was Narsil, the sword of Elendil."
