In "On Laws," which Plethon wrote, like most of his works, at a rather advanced age, his philosophical, theological, and social thought is summarized. Unfortunately, only 16 out of the 101 chapters of the Writing are preserved today, as they were written separately from the manuscript of the entire work, which, after Plethon's death in Mystra on June 26, 1452, fell into the hands of Theodora Asenina, the wife of Demetrios Palaiologos.
