The academic textbook Stern’s Basic Principles of Plant Biology is aimed at students who, through their studies, will learn about and understand the life of plants.

The content of the book is organized into 31 chapters, which can also be considered standalone thematic texts and can be used in a different order from that of the book, depending on the curricula of various university departments and schools of higher education institutions.

Each chapter provides detailed information on plant cells and tissues, water uptake by roots, soil and water movement within the plant, plant metabolism and growth, molecular genetics of plants, reproduction, propagation, taxonomy, evolution, ecology, and plant biotechnology.

Additionally, there are chapters on bacteria, viruses, and fungi, as well as a chapter on plant interactions with cultural topics.
