The Raspberry Pi Global Shutter Camera is a specialized 1.6-megapixel camera that can record fast motion without introducing artifacts typical of rolling shutter cameras. It is ideal for capturing fast-moving subjects and machine vision applications, where even small distortions can severely degrade the quality of conclusions drawn.
The camera features pixel dimensions of 3.45μm × 3.45μm, providing high light sensitivity, and can operate with short exposure times (as little as 30μs with appropriate lighting), a significant advantage for high-speed photography.
It includes a Sony IMX296 sensor, with the same C/CS-mount lens assembly as the Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera, offering compatibility with a wide variety of lenses. The lower resolution of the Global Shutter camera is suitable for machine vision applications where high-resolution images can be difficult to process in real-time.
The Raspberry Pi Global Shutter Camera includes a C-to-CS mount adapter, screwdriver, and a 150mm cable, as well as a removable rear plastic cover for protection. It is compatible with any Raspberry Pi computer that features a CSI connector.
