London, 1726, and Mrs. Tal has problems. The prostitutes are making her job difficult. A man in petticoats is looking for work. Her husband is cranky and near death. The apprentice in the shop disappears while taking midnight strolls.
Meanwhile, a group of comfortable gay men have prepared for a wild party. Mama Clap's brothel is a black comedy with songs and music, a celebration of diversity concerning human sexuality, an exploration of our need to create families, and an original idea to reveal hidden chapters of London's history.
The play premiered at the Royal National Theatre in London in September 2001.
