The PW3 handle features a carbon-free "Brushless" motor technology. Using electronic recognition, its speed is automatically adjusted to the attached tool. Electronic recognition allows for the ideal motor performance and selects the best combination of power, speed, and torque based on the type of tool being used.

In continuous current motors, two coolers (also called brushes or carbon brushes) are used at the point where the electric current is supplied to their rotating part. Over time, due to friction, the coolers wear out and need to be replaced. For this reason, in recent years, brushless motors have been developed, which are far superior to a brushed motor.
