She doesn't remember how she started her collection. Maybe from a phrase in a conversation she overheard while washing a sink? Soon she noticed that (while dusting a living room or defrosting a refrigerator) the people around her were telling their stories. Perhaps they always did, but now it feels different; now the stories reach out to her, and she pulls them close…

When Janice takes on the task of cleaning the home of Mrs. B—a cunning and sly ninety-two-year-old—she ultimately encounters a person who wants to learn her story. But Janice cuts her off: she is a guardian of stories, she doesn’t have her own story. At least, not one she can tell.

Mrs. B is not deceived; she understands that the situation with Janice is much more complicated than it seems. What does she want to hide? After all, doesn’t every person have a story?
