“Maranatha,” “Come, Lord,” was one of the invocations of the early Christians. According to Saint Paul, Christians are “those who love his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:8), who eagerly await the second coming of the Lord.

If this is not how it happens anymore, it is because the belief has been established that there are two different lives and that one day we will inevitably have to leave one to enter the other. This tragically divides humanity.

Furthermore, a certain theology has included related themes (death, judgment, hell, eternal life) in eschatology, arranging them side by side, transforming symbols into a logical scheme, with no relation to the specific life.

The author explores the language of patristic and Eastern sources, which describe the end times as a new creation of the world, a meeting of God’s action and the maturation of the world, where history is not only a matter for judgment but also the “bricks” with which the new Jerusalem will be built.
