MPPT charge controllers determine the appropriate battery charging levels providing minimal losses in their actual performance. Compared to PWM controllers, which distribute about 80% of the photovoltaic panel's generated energy to the batteries, the remaining 20% energy is lost, as simple PWM charge controllers do not track the maximum power point of the photovoltaic panel.
