The educational series Dr STEM aims to help educators and students (aged 8 years and older) engage with "STE(A)M skills," as required by the 21st-century economy and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and to develop Mind Skills with an emphasis on Computational Thinking.

The proposed educational activities presented in the 3rd book of the UNPLUGGED STE(A)M series – The Three (3) Laws of Sir Isaac Newton are implemented through a holistic STE(A)M approach with the following goals:

• to get acquainted with the "father" of classical Physics, Isaac Newton,
• to understand Newton's 1st Law – the Law of Inertia,
• to understand Newton's 2nd Law – the fundamental Law of Mechanics,
• to develop skills by conducting experiments,
• to solve problems based on Newton's Laws,
• to utilize school knowledge for problem-solving.

The acronym STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) is used to define the concept of a holistic approach to learning through five disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.

Art in its various forms becomes an important part of STEAM education, as imagination and creativity form the basis for fostering innovation, while simultaneously contributing to the development of critical thinking.

STEAM frames the way a child's mind learns as it explores the world, simultaneously contributing to the development of Computational Thinking! We all understand that addressing a problem rarely requires only one body of knowledge, such as only mathematics or only physics or chemistry. For example, imagine an architect who, to design complex and safe buildings, uses a combination of many sciences, such as technology, engineering, art, and mathematics!

Therefore, STEAM is the integration and inclusion of different knowledge and scientific fields. Through the STEAM educational approach, students apply the natural sciences, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics, aiming: either at finding a solution to a real problem, or at understanding natural phenomena, or at developing appropriate skills that will help them be competitive in the ever-changing job market of the 21st century.

Thus, STEAM encompasses the four elements that are recognized as fundamental in 21st-century education: Creativity, Critical Thinking, Collaboration, and Communication. STEAM education is now essential, as more than 30 professions will require STEAM knowledge in the near future!
