Description

''Equalizing'' phono amplifier with dual monaural and fully-balanced input/output circuitry. The design of the PE-505 was achieved based on TEAC's audio technology expertise, focusing on recording and playback, aiming for the accurate reproduction of the original intent of the record's producers/creators.

The PE-505 supports high-precision RIAA correction circuitry, as well as DECCA and COLUMBIA curves. Additionally, it features selectable load resistance for MC cartridges and load capacitance for MM cartridges, allowing users to optimize settings for the cartridge type and the condition of the record.

Features at a glance:

  • Fully ''differential'' input/output circuits
  • High-precision RIAA EQ circuit with less than 0.05dB deviation
  • Individual EQ curves for mono records and DECCA and COLUMBIA curves
  • Balanced MC input
  • Switchable MC load resistance (10, 22, 47, 100, 220, 470, 1kΩ)
  • Switchable MM load capacitance (0, 100, 220, 330 pF)
  • MC load impedance measurement function
  • Switchable MM/MC gain (High/Low)
  • Subsonic detection and filter (17Hz, –24dB/oct.)
  • MONO function that combines left and right channels
  • DEMAG function for demagnetizing the cartridge
  • 3-position pin-point feet
  • GND terminal
  • RoHS compliant
  • Fully-balanced circuit design

The PE-505 uses a fully balanced circuit design at all stages that enhances, balances, and maintains signal purity. Even the unbalanced signal at the RCA input is converted to ''differential'' processing mode.

The newly developed NF-type balancing amplifier achieves less than ±0.05dB RIAA deviation (20Hz to 20kHz). The PE-505 achieves 106dB at the RCA input and 86dB at the XLR input.

In addition to the modern RIAA curve, individual curves from DECCA and COLUMBIA are also supported. The switchable load for MM and MC allows users to select the appropriate load resistance.

The Subsonic function shows subsonic signals below 6Hz, while the subsonic filter cuts unnecessary low frequency. With the DEMAG function, the magnetized cores of the cartridges are demagnetized to renew them.
