These features help suppress a variety of aberrations and distortions. Additionally, an HD Nano multi-layer coating has been applied to reduce flare and ghosting, offering greater contrast in bright and backlit conditions.

The lens design incorporates an STM stepping motor that provides fast, nearly silent, and accurate autofocus performance, along with full-time manual focus override. The internal focusing design also contributes to quick performance.

Furthermore, the lens features a built-in micro-USB port for future firmware updates to the lens.
