The poetry collection by I. N. Markopoulos, titled “The Blue Liqueur,” is published by IANOS. Drawing inspiration from experiences and images of everyday life, the poet glorifies life itself – through its various manifestations – with a sober and allegorical style.

His reflective, poetic composition, both dialectical and liberating, emerges from the tempestuous movements of the soul as well as the rational necessity of expression, as he mentions in the introductory note of the book. The collection includes 57 poems from the author's previously published collections along with several new poems.

Biography of I. N. Markopoulos

Ioannis N. Markopoulos was born in Thessaloniki in 1948. He studied Chemical Engineering and Physical Chemistry at the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany and at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he taught as an associate professor of Chemical Engineering. He is currently a professor of the Philosophy of Technoscience at the same University.

In addition to his broader scientific work, he has published over 230 articles and interventions in the daily and periodical local and Athenian press on topics of science and technology, politics, education, and the philosophy of technoscience since 1981. He debuted in poetry with the collection "Coordinates" (IANOS, 1989), and his poems have been published at various times in literary magazines and in poetry anthologies.
