The main goal of the book is summarized in the exploration and documentation of the disadvantages and advantages, as well as the socio-economic impacts on the Greek economy and society of the detachment of supplementary social insurance from the redistributive system (social solidarity) to the capitalization system of individual accounts (personal insurance).

It becomes evident that with this choice, primarily inspired by neoliberalism, which is taking place in our country, the supplementary pension market is not only being organized and the welfare state is being challenged by the state itself, but the very fact that social policy is exercised by the state is also being questioned.

In this direction, where social policy is practically limited to being exercised wholly or partially by the state for the benefit of markets, money markets, and capital markets, it is clear that the future predicts the crushing of social cohesion and the further widening of inequalities and social insecurity, particularly for the younger generations.

Therefore, the necessity of restoring the social and redistributive function of supplementary insurance is highlighted.
