The Teac AD-850-SE combines CD and cassette playback with recording to cassettes and USB flash drives, saving recordings as MP3 files. The built-in 6.3 mm microphone input lets you mix vocals with playback from a CD, cassette, USB device or external source. The echo effect has two adjustable levels and can also be turned off. Recordings from CD to USB do not include the microphone signal.

The CD player plays audio CDs, CD-R/RW discs and MP3 files. Playback options include repeat, shuffle and programme modes. The cassette deck supports normal, chrome and metal tapes for playback, with ±10% pitch control. A timer is available for CD and USB playback, as well as cassette recording and playback.

    Very good sound from USB, CD, cassette. The cassette mechanism is not particularly good (nothing like the older cassette players that were made when cassettes were mainstream). It can easily have issues with some cassettes. When it works as it should, it does very good recording and playback.

    I have been searching for years to get a deck again and the excitement and joy of hearing my old tapes, as well as the new ones I buy from time to time, cannot be described. Together with the CD player, it makes it an excellent piece for the hi-fi system that I have rebuilt after years.
