The Proxxon DS 230/E precision scroll saw is designed for detailed model-making, toy-making, and high-precision machining. It features electronic speed control and cuts softwood up to 40 mm thick, hardwood up to approximately 10 mm, plastics up to approximately 4 mm, and non-ferrous metals up to 2 mm.

The frame is made of ribbed cast aluminium and has a throat depth of 300 mm. The head can be adjusted to three positions, allowing different sections of the blade to be used, while the lowest position allows the use of blades shortened by 60 mm. The blade guide has a built-in blower, and the drive is powered by toothed belts. Five blades are included: three with coarse teeth and two with fine teeth.
