Description

The most popular ceiling access point is back – stronger than ever! A new generation of wireless technology for the office, hotel, shopping mall, or any other installation in busy areas. Modern quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports, PoE, Gen 6 802.11ax wireless connectivity, power supply – included!

cAP ax: The ideal solution for your office wireless network

When it comes to the wireless network in the office, there is no room for half-measures that risk limiting your team's performance. You need excellent coverage in all areas. You need a device that can handle a large number of users. You need a reliable, flexible, and cost-effective solution: the cAP ax!

Overcome Every Obstacle

Both open workspaces and offices with partitions usually face various network problems: the signal is absorbed, reflected, or becomes unstable. Mirrors, tinted glass, televisions, metal filing cabinets – all kinds of objects can become obstacles. Our solution is simple, effective, and elegant: let your Access Point rise above all obstacles! In other words, a ceiling Access Point is the ideal way to prevent signal loss in large, busy areas with many obstacles.

Discreet design, top speeds

There is another advantage to this design: the cAP ax remains "hidden" in plain sight, attracting less unwanted attention than even a smoke detector. Your customers, guests, or colleagues won't even notice it. However, they will definitely notice the lightning-fast wireless connection!

With the Generation6 802.11ax standard, we have up to 40% higher speed in the 5 GHz spectrum and up to 90% higher speed in 2.4 GHz, compared to previous generations! However, more important than speed is stability. Our latest AX devices can handle even the most challenging interference scenarios, offering the most stable and uninterrupted signal we've ever had!

Powerful Hardware and Software

The cAP ax features a modern quad-core processor at 1.8 GHz, NAND storage, and 1 GB of RAM. It is powerful enough to fully utilize the most advanced networking software on the market – RouterOS v7! Complex firewall rules, hardware IPsec encryption, Wireguard, BGP, advanced routing, or multiple VPN tunnels for remote work – the cAP ax can handle it all!

Security and Connectivity

Compared to the previous generation, the cAP ax offers multiple improved authentication types: OWE, WPA3-PSK, WPA3-EAP and 802.11r roaming.

Additionally, it makes the installation and maintenance of your network incredibly easy, as it features PoE-in and PoE-out. That’s right – you can use the cAP ax to power other devices, such as network switches, security cameras (CCTV), or even a second cAP ax!

Central Management with a Few Clicks

And speaking of easy networks... With just a few clicks on our latest central management system wifiwave2 CAPsMAN, you can complete the setup of hundreds of cAP ax devices! You can use any MikroTik device (for example, your main gateway) to run CAPsMAN effortlessly.

Excellent Hardware, needs attention to Software (Solution for "no available channels")

The MikroTik cAP ax is an excellent Wi-Fi 6 access point with very good performance and stability when properly configured. The hardware is of high quality and is clearly aimed at professional/advanced use.

In the newer versions of RouterOS 7 (e.g. 7.21.x) I encountered a serious issue where the Wi-Fi could not find available channels ("no available channels"), even though the settings were correct. The problem was not due to incorrect configuration, but to a bug in the Wi-Fi stack.

The device worked flawlessly by downgrading to RouterOS 7.20.7.

    Critical Tips for new owners:

Interfaces: Attention, wifi1 is 5GHz and wifi2 is 2.4GHz (opposite of the usual).

Configuration: For 5GHz to work in Greece, you must set installation=indoor in the settings, otherwise it will not transmit.

If you have experience with MikroTik, it is an excellent purchase. If you are looking for something plug & play, it may not be the right choice.
